Young guns unveiled for WBBL under-18 exhibition match
The 12-player starting line-ups for Sunday's WBBL Under-18 exhibition match have been confirmed today.
Sydney Thunder-listed all-rounder Rachel Trenaman and Melbourne Stars wicketkeeper Nicole Faltum will headline the Lanning XII, while Melbourne Renegades in-form fast bowler Annabel Sutherland and while another Thunder-listed allrounder Hannah Darlington have been named in the Perry XII.

All eight Rebel WBBL Under-18 Rookies will also take part, with Zoe Griffiths (Stars), Ashlee King (Scorchers), Erika Quinn (Renegades) and Hayley Silver-Holmes (Thunder) named in the Lanning XII and Emma de Broughe (Strikers), Stella Campbell (Sixers), Josephine Dooley (Heat) and Courtney Webb (Hurricanes) included in the Perry XII.
“There’s some tremendously talented players in these two sides so it’s going to be a great match and hopefully an experience they really enjoy on the world-famous MCG," Cricket Australia female high performance coach Leah Poulton said.
“We feel the teams are well balanced with a number of WBBL-contracted players on each side, whilst Hayley Silver-Holmes has just come off an outstanding Under-15 National Championships, so she’s going to be a player to watch.
“It’s great to have former Australian players Cathryn Fitzpatrick and Julia Price involved in coaching roles alongside VicSpirit and Melbourne Stars coach David Hemp - they all have a wealth a knowledge so it’s a good chance for these players to learn from some of cricket’s leading coaches.”
Entry to the match is free, while the match can also be watched on cricket.com.au and the CA Live App.
The match will follow the WBBL clash between the Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes at the MCG on Sunday, showcasing a host of the top performers from the 2017-18 Under-18 National Championships.
