It's the business end of the WBBL|03 season and with only one game left for each team, things are about to get very interesting
Final four scenarios for the WBBL Finals
1st: Sydney Sixers (18 points)
Played 13 | Won 9 | Lost 4 | NRR 0.906
The run home
Jan 28: v Strikers (home/Hurstville Oval)
The Sixers went through a bumpy patch but the reigning champions have come out the other side and returned to the top of the table courtesy of an Alyssa Healy centruy. However, they can't afford to take things easy heading into their final game - particularly considering they'll be going forward without star internationals Dane van Niekerk and Marizanne Kapp, who have returned to South Africa to play India.
They'll be wary of the Strikers, who are the big improvers of WBBL|03 and desperate to cement their first finals appearance.
2nd: Sydney Thunder (18 points)
Played 13 | Won 9 | Lost 4 | NRR 0.737
The run home
Jan 28: v Heat (away/Allan Border Field)
The WBBL|01 champions have slipped to second place on the table and will be looking to secure a top two spot it in their final game. A good win over the Renegades on Wednesday strengthened their cause, but they've let one game go against the Brisbane Heat and have one more chance to beat a side eager to - and quite capable of - pushing into the top four in their remaining matches.
3rd: Adelaide Strikers (16 points)
Played 13 | Won 8 | Lost 5 | NRR 0.318
The run home
Jan 28: v Sixers (away/Hurstville Oval)
The Strikers have been the big improvers of WBBL|03 and are all but guaranteed to make their first finals appearance.
After a loss to the Sixers in their penultimate game of the season, the Strikers cannot afford another loss in their final game. With wins from the Renegades and Heat in the final round, those two teams are closing in on the Strikers' coveted finals place.
4th: Perth Scorchers (14 points)
Played 13 | Won 7 | Lost 6 | NRR 0.220
The run home
Jan 28: v Renegades (away/Camberwell Sports Ground)
The Scorchers have had a mixed season and after a lost to the Renegades in their second last game of the season their finals spot now hangs in the balance.
The Scorchers cannot settle for anything less than a win in their final game away against the Renegades if they want to make the finals again.
5th: Brisbane Heat (14 points)
Played 13 | Won 7 | Lost 6 | NRR 0.169
The run home
Jan 28: v Thunder (home/Allan Border Field)
The Brisbane Heat have to rely on results falling their way to make the finals in WBBL|03 but are holding up their end of the bargain with a win over the Sydney Thunder.
They must win in their final game and, depending on the outcome of the Scorchers and Renegades' match, they could still sneak in.
6th: Melbourne Renegades (12 points)
Played 13 | Won 6 | Lost 7 | NRR 0.202
The run home
Jan 28: v Scorchers (home/Camberwell Sports Ground)
The Renegades' fate is, to a large degree, in their hands heading into their final game. A four-wicket loss to ladder-leader Sydney Thunder on Wednesday - the Renegades were bowled out for 68 - hurt their net run rate signficantly and left them two wins out of the top four.
They’ve managed to hold onto hope with a win against the Perth Scorchers and it they win their final game - and Brisbane Heat lose theirs - they can still make the top four.
7th: Melbourne Stars (10 points)
Played 13 | Won 5 | Lost 8 | NRR -0.678
The run home
Jan 28: v Hurricanes (home/MCG)
Finals are off the table for the Stars, but they'll want to finish the season on a high on their home turf and the big stage of the MCG.
8th: Hobart Hurricanes (2 points)
Played 13 | Won 1 | Lost 12 | NRR -1.887
The run home
Jan 38: v Stars (away/MCG)
The Hurricanes have improved in leaps and bounds by the game and are producing some of their best cricket at the business end of the season, so they'll want to finish on a high with an away win.
