Megan Schutts up the ICC bowling rankings

Despite their WT20 final loss, the Southern Stars remain the top-ranked team while Megan Schutt has risen in the bowling rankings

Despite their loss in the World T20 final to the West Indies, the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars have retained their top billing on the International Cricket Council rankings, while fast-bowler Megan Schutt has stormed into the top-ten bowlers.

With little movement in both the team and individual rankings, Schutt’s 11-position jump into eighth spot on the bowling rankings reflects her impressive World T20 campaign.

The fast-bowler picked up seven wickets and was selected in the ICC Team of the Tournament, alongside Southern Stars captain Meg Lanning.

With three half-centuries in the WT20, Lanning reaffirmed her mantle as the most feared female batter in the world, reflected in her position at the top of the batting rankings.

Elyse Perry remains the No.1 allrounder in the world while Australia also remain in first position on the team rankings, five points clear of second-placed England and 13 ahead of New Zealand in third.

The West Indies, who pulled off a major upset over the Southern Stars in the WT20 final, haven’t moved from fifth spot but they closed the gap to three points between them and fourth-placed India.

There were no changes in the top-ten batting rankings, while Perry remains the top-ranked Australian bowler in fourth spot.

Jess Jonassen retains her spot as the 10th-ranked allrounder and leg-spinner Kristen Beams was another big mover after a consistent WT20, climbing 13 spots to 44th in the bowling rankings.
