Bio

Aaron Phangiso first came to the attention of selectors and fans in 2003, when he was part of a South Africa under-19 team which toured England unbeaten alongside other future Proteas Imraan Khan, Faf du Plessis, JP Duminy, AB de Villiers and Vernon Philander.

Senior international honours came almost 10 years later, when Phangiso made his Twenty20 debut against New Zealand in December 2012, impressing in his second match with 3-25.

His one-day international debut soon followed and the unassuming left-term spinner has represented his country on more than a dozen occasions, also proving useful with some outstanding fielding and as a lower-order batsman.

A sprained finger derailed Phangiso’s ICC Cricket World Cup preparations in October 2015, forcing the spinner to miss the ODIs against New Zealand and Australia.

He has proven to be an extremely economical limited-overs bowler for the Proteas.
