Fast bowler Dhammika Prasad made sporadic appearances in the Sri Lanka team since 2006.
A talented schoolboy player, Prasad played for Sri Lanka in the 2002 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup and four years later was named in the one-day international and Test squads for Sri Lanka’s tour of Bangladesh. He made his ODI debut on that tour and took 2-29 in his first appearance.
But a back injury hampered his career and delayed his Test debut until August 2008.
Inconsistent form and injuries saw him move in and out of the Sri Lanka team. In February 2015, he was a late withdrawal from the Sri Lanka World Cup squad after suffering a hand injury during training.
He took 75 Test wickets and 32 ODI wickets.
