Bio

Victoria born Elliot Opie will be hoping for an injury free 2013 as he attempts to work his way into the South Australia first XI.

Opie suffered a spate of setbacks over the past two seasons that has seen him play only five under-23 matches since 2011.

After impressive performances for Kensington in the Adelaide Grade competition, Opie was given an opportunity in the udner-23 side for the 2010 season.

He picked up a wicket in each of his first two matches against Tasmania and Western Australia.

After missing plenty of cricket during 2011, Opie returned in 2012 to lead the attack for the under-23 side in the national competition.

He claimed three wickets in his first two games back, and also finished unbeaten in all four innings. In fact, his batting against Tasmania surprised many, with Opie scoring 32* and 34* for the match.

Opie continued his fine form with career best figures in his next game against the NSW Blues. The 194 cm seamer tore through the Blues to finish the first innings with 4/52, before claiming another scalp in the second dig.

Opie finished the 2012 campaign with another solid all-round display. The 22 year old picked up figures of 2/34 and 2/20, while he contributed 15 and 38 with the bat.

The rookie listed seamer will be hoping his body allows him to prove himself to South Australian selectors in time for the 2013/14 season.
