Player Story

The Tigers have relied heavily on their spin department in recent years, and it’s a tactic that looks set to continue with promising Harry Allanby impressing many with his performances in the junior side.

With Jason Krejza and Xavier Doherty entering the back-end of their careers, Allanby looms as a like-for-like replacement, especially for the left-handed Doherty.

Allanby, who received the Lord Taverners Scholarship in 2010, has excelled for Tasmania in the junior competitions.

After playing in both the under-17 and under-19 sides, Allanby progressed into the Futures squad where he has taken a number of wickets for the state team.

Allanby’s stocks rose rapidly in the 2009/10 season when he was named the Player of the Tournament at the Under-17’s national carnival.

Rated as one of the finest spinners coming through the ranks, Allanby played a pivotal role for Clarence as they took out the Cricket Tasmania Premier League competition.

Allanby looked set to make his state debut in the Ryobi Cup against the NSW Blues in February, but persistent rain meant the game never got started.

At just 18 years of age, Allanby still has plenty of learning to as a spin bowler. Fortunately for him, he has two world-class spinners in the squad who will be there to teach him everything he needs to know.
