A promising allrounder, James Neesham made his one-day international debut against South Africa in early 2013.

His first 14 ODI matches included a high score of 42no and best bowling figures of 4-42. 

His made his Test debut against India in February 2014, scoring his maiden century in that match. He followed that performance with a second century in his second Test match, becoming the first New Zealander to score hundreds in his first two matches.
