Parthiv Patel first came to the Australians’ attention when he was the tiny, 18-year-old gloveman on India’s 2003-04 tour. By then he had already become, at 17, the youngest wicketkeeper to play a Test.
At the end of 2004 he was dropped from the side and MS Dhoni became India’s first-choice keeper. Patel returned briefly to the Test side in 2008.
From 2010 he featured regularly in the one-day side and even played as a specialist run-maker, collecting his highest international score of 95 against England in September 2011.
