Peter Chase had yet to play a one-day international when chosen in the Ireland World Cup squad, but the paceman’s form through 2014 was enough to convince selectors to take him to the tournament.
The 21-year-old also made his county cricket debut in 2014 for Durham and was impressive in his first season before being included in the Ireland squad which travelled to Australia and New Zealand for a World Cup warm-up tour in September and October.
Good performances against Queensland (4-52) and against New Zealand A in Dubai (3-38) sealed Chase’s spot in the World Cup team.
