Player Story
Reece Young is the wicketkeeper-batsman who replaced Gareth Hopkins for two Tests early in 2011 and did enough to gain a spot on the Zimbabwe tour later that year. With Brendon McCullum concentrating on his batting, a rare berth behind the stumps is available and Young is desperate to make it his. He collected three catches in his first two tastes of Test action and showed some promise with the bat during his 57 in the opening innings of his second game. He started his domestic career in Auckland before a switch to Canterbury helped revive his international ambitions at the age of 31.
