Bio

A 202cm tall right-arm quick from country Western Australia, Simon Mackin burst onto the scene playing for the Chairman’s XI against the touring England side in Alice Springs in 2013, when he had Ian Bell, Matt Prior and Joe Root caught behind.

Mackin was named the 2012-13 WA Cricket Media Guild Player of the Future and earned his first contract with WA the following summer, playing just one first-class match for the Warriors in his debut season.

Mackin has played 19 first-class games and has already taken 69 wickets. He has best-figures of 7-81 and best match figures of 12-159.

Day one highlights: NSW v WA

An even spread from the Warrior's vaunted attack has limited the NSW to 7-254 after a fighting 76 from Steve Smith and cameos from Mitchell Starc and Peter Nevill.
