On the back of impressive performances for the South Africa Under-19s Women and Northerns Women, Sune Luus made her international debut in September 2012, when she was just 16.

The bowling allrounder's career underwent an exponential growth in 2016 when she managed to scalp 37 wickets in the calendar year, equaling the record for the same with Anisa Mohammed. The year also saw her involved in a record 142-run stand with Chloe Tryon as well as another ODI against Ireland where she claimed both a half-century and a five-wicket haul.

Luus was named South African cricketer of the year in 2017.
