Suraj Randiv originally missed out on selection for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, but was given his chance on cricket’s biggest stage when he was called into the team to replace an injured Angelo Mathews and subsequently played in the final against India.
The off-spinner made his first-class debut in 2004 but it was not until an impressive 2008-09 domestic season that Randiv received a call-up to the Sri Lanka team.
He made his one-day international debut in late 2009 and a Test debut against India followed six months later.
Randiv is not the sort of bowler to pull out fancy trick balls, instead relying on flight, dip and bounce to unsettle opposition batsmen.
After a spell out of the national side, Randiv returned to the national side for the November 2014 ODI series against India and will make his second World Cup appearance in 2015.
His last Test match appearance was in 2012.
