Bio

Thisara Perera broke into the Sri Lanka limited overs team in 2009 when he was called into the squad during a tour of India as an emergency replacement for Angelo Mathews.

Perera, who bowls right-arm medium fast and bats left-handed, has since established himself as a regular member of Sri Lanka’s one-day international team, with a career highlight including a hat-trick against Pakistan in 2012 and seven ODI fifties.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 was his second appearance at the tournament, after he played four matches in 2011.

While his ODI appearances for Sri Lanka are regular, Perera has not been able to establish himself in the Test side in the same fashion, playing six matches between 2011 and 2012 but remaining out of the longer form of the game since.
