Player Story
Aiden Markram is a talented opening batter from Northerns and he became the first South African captain to win a World Cup, albeit at under age level (2014 Under-19 World Cup).
He made his Test debut in 2017, falling just short of a century with 97 against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom. He first Test series against Australia was a raging success too, scoring two tons (143 and 152) as South Africa won the 2018 series 3-1.
Dropped from the Test side in 2022, Markram returned to the side in 2023 and cemented his spot with hundreds against West Indies and India.
Markram has captained his country in both white-ball formats and is a handy off-spinner and fielder.
