Mackay clash abandoned due to unsafe outfield

Match between Australia A and the National Performance Squad in Mackay abandoned without a ball being bowled

A wet and unsafe outfield has led to the cancellation of the scheduled one-day match between Australia A and the National Performance Squad in Mackay today.

The seventh match of the Quadrangular A series in Queensland was called off without a ball being bowled after match officials deemed the outfield at Harrup Park to be unsafe for play.

Despite clear and sunny weather in Mackay, Cricket Australia said Match Referee Steve Bernard made the decision upon inspection of the ground this morning.

Today's scheduled match was to be the first of seven in Mackay after the series, featuring Australia A, the NPS, South Africa A and India A, commenced with four matches at Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville over the past week.

It is yet to be determined if tomorrow's scheduled match between India A and South Africa A at the venue will go ahead as planned.

The remaining pool matches in the series are scheduled for Harrup Park on the 27th, 28th and 31st of August before the finals on the weekend of Sepetmber 3 and 4.

Today's abandoned match will not be rescheduled and two points have been awarded to each side.

The remainder of the fixtures at Harrup Park will proceed as planned.
