Warner raring to go after baby birth

Australia opener to return for Manuka Oval ODI on Wednesday

Australian opener David Warner admits it was hard to pull himself away from his family after the birth of his second daughter, but he's back feeling refreshed and ready to go.

Warner missed two of the first three Victoria Bitter ODIs against India to welcome baby Indi Rae last week, but returns for Wednesday's match at Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Australia won both clashes in his absence for an unassailable 3-nil series lead.

Despite being away from the team, the vice-captain said he was glued to the TV and didn't miss a moment.

"The way we're going out there and addressing the situation - when we're batting, especially - is phenomenal - a credit to the top order," he said after training on Tuesday.

"I was very very excited to see Glenn Maxwell go out there and play a mature innings and get us home."

Warner said it's always nice to have a break from the game, but doesn't like missing too much because, "at the end of the day, you're giving an opportunity to someone else".

In this case, it was an in-form Usman Khawaja.

"That's fantastic, but you've got to come back, you've got to be switched on and you've got to score runs as well," he added.

"It's a fickle game. If you're out of form it could cost you a spot for a year or two."

Big scores have been the norm this ODI series against India, with Australia successfully chasing down 309, 308 and 295 in their opening three games.

Warner predicts another high total on Wednesday, on what's typically a flat pitch at Manuka.

"Having the momentum of chasing big totals down gives you a little bit of an added advantage, where you're confident in yourself, you're backing your teammates and the middle order," he said.

"We've been spoken about in all three forms our middle order not really performing, but at the moment our middle order is galvanising so well together that we're actually chasing these big totals.

"We hope that we can do that as well when we're setting the total."
