Video: Right-handed Warner hits out

Powerful opener shows incredible versatility in display of big-hitting ahead of first T20 against South Africa

Opener David Warner isn't the only man in the world to make a career out of regularly clearing the rope in Twenty20 cricket, but not many can do it effectively both left and right-handed.

In exclusive vision filmed by cricket.com.au ahead of Australia's first T20 against South Africa in Durban on Saturday morning (AEDT), Warner opted for a right-handed stance and hammered six after six during a centre wicket practice session at Kingsmead.

Having already landed a few massive blows with his traditional left-handed stance, Warner switched to right-handed and was equally as effective in sending the ball into orbit.

While it remains to be seen if the 29-year-old will use the tactic in the three-match series against the Proteas, he's shown in the past that he's not afraid of adopting the unorthodox method in an international match.

WATCH: Warner switch-hits Ashwin for six

He famously switch-hit India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin over the mid-wicket fence for six during a T20 international in Sydney in 2012 and he did the same to Pakistan tweaker Sohaib Maqsood in Dubai 2014.

He also unleashed the shot in a Test match against Sri Lanka in Hobart in 2012, hitting spinner Rangana Herath for four.

He attempted the shot again during Australia's one-day international against India in Canberra in January, but ended up cutting a flatter wide delivery from Ravindra Jadeja through the backward point region.

And he's also pulled off the switch hit multiple times during the Indian Premier League.

Of course, Warner isn't the only batsman in the world to change his stance and hit out to great affect out in the middle.

England's Kevin Pietersen was one of the first exponents of the switch hit and has changed to a left-handed stance on more than one occasion for the Melbourne Stars in the KFC Big Bash League.

Warner's teammate Glenn Maxwell is also one of the leading players of the reverse sweep and the switch hit in world cricket.
