On target Williamson takes down Warner

New Zealand skipper gets the best of Australia's vice-captain in a different sort of trans-Tasman contest

First they took back the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy from Australia in February, now New Zealand have claimed a major win over their trans-Tasman rivals in another arena: darts.

When rain washed out a training session, Sunrisers Hyderabad teammates David Warner and Kane Williamson took to the dartboard, with the Black Caps skipper taking out a big win against his Indian Premier League captain.

Williamson, currently ranked the world’s No.2 ranked Test batsman, proved he is just as adept with a dart as he is with the bat, channelling his inner Phil Taylor by chalking up a perfect 180 to trump his Australian rival.

And it was all captured on film, with Sunrisers Hyderabad sharing a video of the trans-Tasman showdown.

"He's better than me at darts. I even share my darts with him," Warner said on the video posted by the IPL franchise.

After putting three consecutive darts into the triple 20 to complete the perfect trio of throws, Williamson did a lap of honour of the dressing room, while Warner was just as ecstatic for his IPL teammate.

"There you have it Sunrisers fans, our first 180 ... comes off probably 10,656 attempts,” Warner said.

“Two years of hard work has finally paid off. It's like a hole in one for golf for us.”

Williamson, who last month equalled Martin Crowe’s record of 16 Test centuries for New Zealand, jokingly described it as a “big moment”.

"Something I'll never forget ... oh, and last year's IPL victory,” the Kiwi skipper said. This and that would be right up there."

The Sunrisers will be in action on Wednesday night when they host Mumbai Indians.

Hyderabad skipper Warner will be out to continue his return to form after scoring an unbeaten 76 against Gujarat Lions on Sunday.

Hyderabad aren’t the only IPL team having fun on camera – a video of MS Dhoni dancing with his Rising Pune Supergiant teammates has been viewed more than 1,000,000 times.
