Out-of-favour South Africa A batsman David Miller in the runs as his side falter at the finish
India A prevail despite Miller heroics
A sublime century from India A skipper Manish Pandey has guided his team to a three-wicket win over South Africa A at Tony Ireland Stadium.
A scintillating knock by David Miller wasn't enough for the Proteas, as India A claimed their first win of the Quadrangular ‘A’ Series.
Just four days after being bowled out for 55 runs, India A put together a complete performance and chased down the required 231 with eight balls to spare.
Pandey was ably supported by Kedar Jadhav (26) and Dhawal Kulkarni (23no) who sat with their skipper to form two ultimately match-winning partnerships.
Kulkarni was also pivotal with the ball against the South Africans, claiming 4-37 from his ten overs and claiming the key scalp of David Miller, who surged back into form with a classy 90 from just 104 balls.
Miller hadn’t reach the half-century mark in 31 attempts dating back to March of this year, and fell agonisingly short of turning his knock into a fourth List A century.
India A’s chase wasn’t as seamless as the scoreboard may show, at one stage needing 20 runs from the final four overs with just three wickets in hand.
Pandey even tempted fate, skying the ball to an awaiting Reeza Hendricks at long-on, only for the South Africa A fielder to fumble the chance and effectively hand victory to the Indians.
South Africa A remain the only side without a victory in the series and will take on Australia A on Saturday with the in-form National Performance Squad to take on India A on Sunday.
