Cummins, Maxwell join Hussey in PM's XI

International stars Pat Cummins and Glenn Maxwell will join captain Michael Hussey and a group of young talent in the Prime Minister's XI match against England next week.

The team has a heavy Western Australia flavour with Hussey joined by four from the Alcohol.Think Again Western Warriors squad, including tall fast bowling prospects Jason Behrendorff and Simon Mackin, as well as promising batsman Cameron Bancroft and David Moody, nephew of former Australia player Tom.

England will play Tony Abbott's team at Canberra's Manuka Oval on January 14 in a match that will be live streamed on cricket.com.au. The game will be a warm-up for England ahead of the Carlton Mid ODI Tri-Series also featuring Australia and India.

Cricket Australia's National Selection Panel chairman Rod Marsh said the annual PM's XI match was "a special fixture on the Australian cricketing calendar and a magnificent tradition".

"Pat (Cummins) has been in excellent form bowling fast for the Sydney Thunder this summer, while Glenn (Maxwell) can electrify the crowd with his daring and aggressive stroke play," said Marsh.

"Eighteen-year-old batsman Jake Doran is in the team, and he will also take the gloves.

"I think we all realise what a great talent Jake is, and his selection will provide another opportunity for him to continue his development."

Although he plays in the west, Behrendorff is a local Canberra product, and will be joined by ACT Comets player Matt Condon.

The team also includes Papua New Guinea star Lega Siaka, who is contracted to the Melbourne Renegades for the KFC T20 Big Bash League.

"Lega scored a century for Papua New Guinea in their first ever one-day international series in November when they defeated Hong Kong, and he is a confident young batsman who will excite the fans," said Marsh.

"His selection highlights PNG’s growth as a cricketing nation."
