Rimmington parts ways with Warriors

Right-arm quick moves back to his home state after a successful six year spell across the Nullarbor

West Australia paceman Nathan Rimmington has moved back to Brisbane, likely ending his six-year stint at the Warriors.

Rimmington made the switch from Brisbane to Perth in 2011 in a move that helped revive his cricket career.

But the 34-year-old has fallen out of favour this season, playing his last game for WA in November.

The emergence of speedsters Joel Paris, Simon Mackin, Jason Behrendorff and Cameron Green has limited Rimmington's opportunities.

Quick Single: Behrendorff seals spot in history with 14 wickets

The right-armer, who played for the Perth Scorchers in the inaugural edition of the KFC Big Bash League before switching to the Melbourne Renegades, remains available for WA selection until his contract is up at the end of the season.

"After six years in Perth, it feels like the right time to go back to Brisbane for my family and with a view to my studies and career," Rimmington said after moving back on Monday to Brisbane.

“I want to thank the WACA for their support. I moved here to play red ball cricket as I was out of the frame in Queensland and played 28 Shield games for WA, so from that point of view, it was a success.

“I thank Mickey Arthur and Lachie Stevens for initially giving me the opportunity to play four-day cricket. I also want to thank JL and Griff for their support throughout and everyone involved at the WACA.

Rimmington struck after appeal goes begging

Rimmington has a superb record for his adopted state, having snared 91 wickets at an average of 26.60 for WA. He also scored a memorable century in the 2011-12 season against NSW.

He turned out in 27 one-day matches for WA and took 27 wickets at an average of 40.14, including playing in the triumphant 2014-15 one-day cup final.

"There's no better team man than Nathan Rimmington," WA coach Justin Langer said.

"For his character and personality around the squad, he'll be missed.

"We wish him and his family all the best for their future in Queensland."

Four wins on the trot have catapulted WA back into the race for a spot in the Sheffield Shield final.

The Warriors will aim to continue their hot form when they take on Victoria in Alice Springs, starting on March 8.
