Richardson handed Shield ban

Redbacks quick to miss match against WA after grade cricket outburst

West End Redbacks fast bowler Kane Richardson has been suspended from South Australia’s next Bupa Sheffield Shield match for using foul language in a South Australian grade game.

Richardson breached the South Australian Cricket Association’s Code of Behaviour while playing grade cricket for East Torrens on Sunday 1 February for using inappropriate language and conduct against the spirit of cricket.

The sanction banned Richardson from playing three A-Grade matches, with two games suspended pending good behaviour, and one match from the one-day competition.

The breach wasn’t ignored by the Cricket Australia Code of Behaviour Commission.

Commissioner Anthony Crocker determined the severity of the Club Ban warranted a higher punishment which resulted in a suspension from the Redbacks next Shield match against the Alcohol.Think Again Western Warriors at Gliderol Stadium on 16 February.

Richardson has played just one four-day match for the Redbacks this season, taking 5-109 in the eight-wicket loss to Western Australia this week.
