Team loses 10 wickets for 16

United Arab Emirates Under-19s collapse in match against Nepal

If you thought Australia's first innings at Trent Bridge was a big collapse, take a look at this from a match in the ACC Under-19 Premier League on Friday.

The United Arab Emirates had started strongly in pursuit of Nepal's total of 199, moving to 0-34 in the eighth over.

But the match was over just 13 overs later after the UAE lost all ten wickets for just 16 runs to be bowled out for 50 and lose by 149 runs.

Six UAE batsmen were unable to register a run, three were dismissed for 1 and their total would have been a great deal worse had it not been for the 32 runs scored by opener and captain Waruna Perera.

The collapse started when Zafri Zafardeen was dismissed for 12 before Perera moved the score along to 1-44 in the 11th over.

But from there, Nepal took nine wickets for 10 runs as a UAE batsman was dismissed with the score on 44, 45, 45, 46 and then the big wicket of Perera with the score on 47.

They then lost their last four wickets without scoring as No.10 Atharva Kavi finished not out on 0.

Left-arm orthodox bowler Sushil Kandel did the damage for Nepal, taking 4-7 from seven overs, while off-spinner Sunil Dhamala took 3-12 from seven.

Off-break bowler Prem Tamang then took two wickets in his only over for the match to finish with figures of 2-0 from 0.5 overs and complete the amazing win.

Impressively, the UAE bounced back in fine style with a crushing 165-run win over Saudi Arabia just 24 hours later.

That match included some incredible numbers as well; Saudi Arabia's innings of just 93 included 10 single-figure scores and a score of 71 from 72 balls by wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Zeyad, who was the last man out.

The Asian Cricket Council event in Malaysia, which acts as a qualifier for the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, features six nations and will wrap up on Thursday.
