Rayudu and Stuart Binny put on record partnership against Zimbabwe in first ODI in the African capital
Rayudu century lifts India in Harare ODI
Ambati Rayudu's 124 not out and a record partnership of 160 with Stuart Binny rescued India from a precarious position and lifted them to 6-255 in Friday's first one-day international (ODI) against Zimbabwe.
Fresh off a ODI series loss to Bangladesh, India were struggling against another lower-ranked team when Kedar Jadhav departed in the 25th over to leave the tourists 5-87 at Harare Sports Club.
Rayudu and Binny dug India out of trouble with a record sixth-wicket partnership.
Ajinkya Rahane stood in as captain for India, who rested a string of frontline players, including MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, for the tour.
Rahane made 34 as an opener but he and Rayudu were the only batsmen in India's new-look top six to get into double figures.
