'Poor' Cook urged to take a back seat

Former England skippers critical of current captain after India took control of the fourth Test

England captain Alastair Cook has been criticised for his tactics and leadership as the India took control of the fourth Test in Mumbai.

Virat Kohli flayed the England bowlers with an unbeaten 147 on the third day – pushing his average above 50 in all three formats of the game – and Murali Vijay added 136 as the hosts built a 51-run lead at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.

Kohli, Vijay help India overtake England

Kevin Pietersen, who struck a brilliant 186 on a vicious turner at this venue in 2012, took to social media to vent his frustration as India's batsmen made light work of their innings.

Pietersen claimed Cook's "poor captaincy" had allowed India to take control of the Test, which England needed to win to remain alive in the five-Test series.
