Australia's best have been honoured in Melbourne with Steve Smith claiming his second Allan Border Medal at the annual awards night for Australian cricket.

Players and their partners or guests began arriving at the Palladium at Crown in central Melbourne in the the late afternoon to stroll the blue carpet and show off their fashions ahead of the awards ceremony, hosted by former Australia opener Michael Slater.
Karen Rolton, Norm O'Neill and Ricky Ponting will all be inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame during the night. More on those three and their outstanding career achievements can be read here.
