Inside Australia's Ashes celebrations
Australia’s players duly moved into celebration mode after wrapping up a clinical Magellan Ashes performance with a resounding innings and 123-run triumph over England in the fifth Test at the SCG
Australia captain Steve Smith capped off a remarkable Ashes campaign by winning the Compton-Miller Medal as the player of the series.
Smith’s 687 runs, average of 137.40 and three centuries – including a career-best 239 in Perth – made him the undisputed choice for the award that was introduced in the iconic 2005 Ashes series.
Australia’s magnificent bowling line-up also fired, with Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon each claiming over 20 wickets.
Australia's 4-0 series victory has seen them trade places with England on the International Cricket Council's Test team rankings and move into third position.
