Left-armer was at his destructive best in grade club hit-out in Perth

Australia paceman Mitchell Johnson continued his preparation for next month's Test series against New Zealand by producing a dominant performance for his club side in grade cricket in Perth on Saturday.

Johnson turned out for Wanneroo Districts for the first time since 2012 in their match with Mount Lawley and impressed onlookers with a devastating five-wicket haul that will give the left-armer plenty of confidence ahead of the upcoming international summer of cricket.

All five of Johnson's wickets were bowled - including Alcohol.Think Again Western Warriors Sheffield Shield player Tom Beaton - as he finished the day with figures of 5-30 from 9.5 overs.

It was Johnson's second consecutive five-wicket performance, after he picked up 5-31 from nine overs in Western Australia's final Matador BBQs One-Day Cup match against the myFoot Dr Queensland Bulls on Wednesday.

Johnson’s efforts helped restrict Mount Lawley to 149 in the one-day clash played at Breckler Park in the Perth suburb of Dianella.

Johnson will continue his preparation for the first Test in Brisbane by playing in a day-night Sheffield Shield contest for Western Australia against the Tasmanian Tigers in Hobart that starts on Wednesday.
