King's Supernovas into T20 Challenge final

Laura Wolvaardt and Shafali Verma saw Velocity chase down Supernovas but Alana King's economical spell helped her side book a spot in the final on run rate

A tight spell of bowling from Australian leg-spinner Alana King was not enough to secure victory in the Women's T20 Challenge for her Supernovas side, but has helped them book a place in Saturday's final.

King went wicketless against the Velocity side but conceded just 20 runs off her four overs, the most economical bowling of Tuesday's match.

But defending 5-150 was too much to ask for the Supernovas' attack.

However, while Velocity reached their target with seven wickets and ten balls to spare, Supernovas remain ahead of them on net run rate in the three team, four match tournament.

With one match of the group stage left Supernovas are guaranteed a place in the final, against either Velocity or Trailblazers, who King's team beat on Monday.

Supernovas had been reduced to 3-18, largely by the pace bowling of England's Kate Cross (2-24). Harmanpreet Kaur's 71 took them to a respectable score, but on the same Pune ground they had made 163 on Monday.

Shafali Verma and Laura Wolvaardt each made 51 as Velocity chased down the target despite Deandra Dottin's 2-21.
