Babar ousts Finch from No.1 T20 ranking

Pakistani goes top among world's batsmen in shortest format following stellar series against Aussies

In-form Pakistan batsman Babar Azam has jumped four places to sit atop the ICC T20 batting rankings, deposing Australia captain Aaron Finch from the number one position.

Babar hit 68no, 45 and 50 in Pakistan's three-nil sweep over the Aussies in the T20 series that was completed in Dubai on Sunday night, a purple patch of form in stark contrast to Finch, who made zero, three and one following on from his duck against the UAE last week.

Babar's returns pushed his career average to 56.56 from 23 matches, making him the only player in T20I history to average in excess of 50 (min 20 innings).

The lean streak for Finch meanwhile, marked a drastic change in fortunes for the big-hitting right-hander, who in June hammered a world record 172 against Zimbabwe to continue a stunning run of T20 form. He drops one place to number two.

England's Jason Roy was the other big mover among batsman, climbing five places into ninth position after his match-winning 69 against Sri Lanka.

Incredibly, the top five bowling positions are now occupied by leg-spinner's, after England's Adil Rashid took 3-11 against the Lankans to move into fifth position.

The four leggies above Rashid, in order, are Afghanistan's Rashid Khan, Pakistan's Shadab Khan, Ish Sodhi from New Zealand and Indian Yuzvendra Chahal.

Also in the top 10 is towering Australia quick Billy Stanlake, who climbed nine places into ninth, and Pakistan left-arm spinner Imad Wasim, who rose to 10th.

Incredibly, with Black Cap Mitchell Santner at No.6, and leggies Samuel Badree (WI) and Imran Tahir at seventh and eighth respectively, Stanlake is the only non-spinner in the top 10.

On the allrounders list, Aussie superstar Glenn Maxwell retained top position.
