Marchant de Lange has had limited opportunities on the international arena thanks to a South African team brimming with fast-bowling talent but the quick has produced some memorable performances to date including a stunning Test debut in 2011.
Standing in for an injured Vernon Philander against Sri Lanka, de Lange took 7-81, the third-best debut figures for South Africa at the time.
de Lange’s T20I appearances for South Africa prior to being chosen for the touring squad for Australia came in 2012 against New Zealand, while his one-day international debut came two years apart.
He was given another opportunity for South Africa in August 2014 against Zimbabwe, where he took 3-31.
Despite his limited changes at the highest level, de Lange is a potentially damaging bowler with the ability to swing the ball.
