"Spinning his way back to the top"

It wasn't long ago that Monty Panesar was the toast of English cricket, but the emergence of Graeme Swann has meant the left arm spinner has played second fiddle for much of the past four years. He remains an outstanding Test match bowler with 164 wickets to his name so far in 48 matches. And on last winter's tour of India he took centre stage once more in Mumbai in an historic win. Since then however he has made headlines for the wrong reasons and not cricketing ones. After leaving Sussex, a new county and a third tour to Australia will give him a fresh start and although he is unlikely to play unless Swann suffers an injury, there is no doubt that he will be ready to go when needed. In his spare time he can often be found studying for a second degree in sports management through his old university Loughborough.
