MyCricket spotters not shocked by 404no

Fourteen-year-old Kirstan Kallicharan sent the cricket world into a frenzy last week with an incredible innings for school side Vishnu Boys Hindu College, smashing 362 runs in boundaries on his way to 404 not out.

Well, it turns out eagle-eyed Aussie cricket fans were exposed to the young gun’s talents on home soil just six months ago (see Facebook post from the team at MyCricket below).

Just 13 at the time, the Trinidad and Tobago Under-15 captain took the under-16 international tri-series in New South Wales by storm on his way to the T20 Player of the Series award.

Kallicharan belted 54no, 56 and 34 in his three T20 innings as the West Indies finished runners-up to Australia in the final.

While many are suggesting it’s only a matter of time until the young gun is plying his trade at Test level, Kallicharan taking a more measured approach to his breath-taking knock.

“At the beginning I was just batting normal, just aiming to make a hundred but when I got to my century I realised I could score more and more and I just continued to bat,” he told the Express yesterday.

“I am not over-reacting about it. I am just felling happy I reached there. I am staying focused,” Kallicharan added.
