Harris wants Carberry souvenir

Aussie quick looking in the wrong place

Fast bowler Ryan Harris has revealed he’s keen to get his hands on one more prized item from Australia’s Ashes whitewash: Michael Carberry’s broken bat.

Harris split the English opener’s bat in half during the fifth Ashes Test in Sydney to the shock of the bowler, batsman and just about everybody who witnessed the bizarre incident.

If ever there was something to inflate a fast bowler’s ego, Harris wanted the broken bat as ever-lasting proof of the destructive delivery.

“I actually tried to get the bat to frame it,” Harris told cricket.com.au

“I think the Lord’s museum snapped it up straight away.

“It’s one of those things. I bowled the ball and went to turn around noticed half of the bat was moving.

“It’s something I’ve never seen before. You feel pretty good, that was pretty quick to break a bat in half like that.

“It’s one of those amazing things you don’t see very often.”

The famous bat isn’t as far as the Home of Cricket, currently residing in Bowral at the Bradman Museum and International Cricket Hall of Fame, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

The museum boasts six galleries, including The Bradman Gallery which features The Don’s first bat, along with countless Baggy Green caps, rare archival footage and memorabilia from the greats of the game.
