After his man-of-the-match performance in the opening Commonwealth Bank Ashes Test, speedster Mitchell Johnson has promised to keep his lucky mo for the duration of the series if he can raise enough money for Movember.
Mitch keeps his mo-jo
In the opening Ashes exchange, Johnson revived memories of the great Dennis Lillee when he rained down bouncers on England’s batsmen, complete with fiery glare and a 70s-style upper-lip warmer.
Now he’s calling on Australians to help him support the Movember cause, and he’s promised to ditch the razor if he can raise $50,000 by December 3.
Johnson’s wife, Jessica, came up with the plan.
“She made a suggestion that we try to make some more money for charity,” he said. “And I get to keep it throughout the whole series, so that’s what I’m going to do.
“I’m going to try to see if we can raise $50,000 before December 3. That’s the plan – I’ll keep the mo through the whole Ashes series if I get to the $50,000.
“My brother sent me a link a day after the game, and it had about 10,000 followers, then it went up to about 20,000 in a day, so it’s pretty crazy but hopefully we can raise the money. It’ll be nice, I’ll keep the mo, and hopefully it stays lucky for me.”
