The Hussey brothers took their famed backyard childhood rivalry to the global stage in Mumbai last night, but it wasn't the home town hero who emerged similing.
David Hussey was unbeaten as the Chennai Super Kings completed a seven-wicket win to eliminate the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 7 elimination final.
CSK overcame Mumbai's 8-173 with eight balls to spare and now advance to the second qualifying final on Friday night.

The younger Hussey brother hit 40 from 29 balls, featuring three towering sixes and two boundaries as CSK raced forward to a showdown with George Bailey, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell and the Kings XI Punjab on Friday.
Earlier, Mike Hussey, fresh from celebrating his 39th birthday on Tuesday, anchored Mumbai's 76-run opening partnership.

The former Australia Test star was composed as he hit 39 from 33 balls with three typically well-placed fours - another was an outside edge from a full-blooded swing - and a six.
His departure, bowled by Ravindra Jadeja, saw Mumbai stutter. Fellow opener Lendl Simmons top scored with 67, while New Zealand allrounder Corey Anderson was unable to repeat his heroics of the last match against Rajasthan Royals, falling for 20.
Aditya Tare, who hit his first ball for six to seal Mumbai's spot in this match, was caught off his very first ball in this match as Mumbai lost four wickets for three runs in a six ball spell across the final two overs. They finished
The fortunes of Mike and David throughout this tournament have been fascinating in their own right, with the brothers making contrasting yet equally spirited comebacks to aid their respective teams' charge to the finals.
The roads Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians took to reach the top four were vastly different.
Chennai appeared all set for a top two finish as late as a week ago, with MS Dhoni's side occupying top spot on the ladder for a period in the opening half of IPL7.
With the bat, CSK have been spurred along by the opening combination of Dwayne Smith (533 runs) and Brendon McCullum (380), and the increasingly impressive form of India star Suresh Raina (382).

McCullum's tournament has come to an end but Hussey's introduction could prove telling; the right-hander notched an unbeaten 50 from No.4 in his last trip to the crease, with Dhoni opting to push South African Faf du Plessis to the top of the order.
It's been home-grown bowling talent that has propelled CSK into the finals, with Indian trio Mohit Sharma (19 wickets), Ravindra Jadeja (17) and Ravi Ashwin (14) forming the backbone of one of IPL7's most frugal attacks.
Mumbai, meanwhile, have charged into the finals on the back of a truly astonishing run chase against Rajasthan only three short days ago. That innings saw Kiwi Corey Anderson slam an unbeaten 95 from 44 balls in a scarcely believable run chase.

Prior to that, Anderson's form had been disappointing, with Mumbai relying on the runs of their skipper Rohit Sharma (370), fellow Indian Ambati Rayudu (359) and West Indian Lendl Simmons (327), who scored this tournament's first and only century.
T20 specialist Lasith Malinga (16) and Test great Harbhajan Singh (12) are the only two Mumbai bowlers to claim more than six wickets this tournament - perhaps a reflection of a campaign that has garnered as many losses as it has wins.
