Scotland secure berth in Pool A with tournament hosts

Scotland have defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 41 runs in the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier to join hosts Australia and New Zealand in Pool A of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

Australia, currently ranked No.1 in ODIs, will take on Scotland in their final pool match at Blundstone Arena on March 14, 2015. It will be the third time the teams have faced off in the World Cup (1999, 2007).

As a finalist, UAE secure a berth in Pool B of the tournament and will take on Ireland and India in their Australian fixtures. It will be just their second appearance at the World Cup, having played in the 1996 edition.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Chief Executive, John Harnden said: “The Qualifier has been full of action-packed matches and emerging heroes, and in Scotland and UAE we have exciting additions to ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

“Now that we know the identity of all 14 teams, fans around the country have a full picture of what is on offer at each venue, and in just under two weeks they will be able to secure their seats.”
