Johnson says Australia's quicks are in need of a chance to refresh with a busy schedule ahead
Bowlers look to post-Test 'freshen up'
Australia's bowlers will be looking for a break after the SCG Test as they gear up for an arduous 2015, according to spearhead Mitchell Johnson.
They have the Carlton Mid ODI Tri-series shortly after the Sydney Test, the Cricket World Cup, a tour of the West Indies and then the Ashes campaign.
Captain Steve Smith admitted his bowlers were cooked at the end to the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, following back-to-back Tests against India.
With some of their most important cricket ahead of them Johnson, says the bowling group is keen for a spell after the Sydney Test, which begins on Tuesday.
"Definitely, all us bowlers feel like we need to have a bit of a freshen up," Johnson said.
"So we'll just see what happens after this match here.
"And then we've got some one-dayers so hopefully I can get a bit of a break at some stage there.
"If not, just got to go out there and keep trying to do the best I can.
"I had a break after one dayers in Perth earlier which was to freshen me up and that was really helpful."
Australia kick off the tri-series against England at the SCG on January 16 and will face India two days later at the MCG.
Australia host England at the same venue on the opening day of the World Cup on February 14, ahead of the final, also at the MCG, on March 29.
The two-Test series against the West Indies begins in Dominica on June 5.
The first Ashes Test begins at Cardiff's Sophia Gardens on July 8.
