McGrath nervous ahead of All Stars

Glenn McGrath admits to nerves ahead of the Cricket All Stars in America

Former Australia paceman Glenn McGrath admits he is nervous ahead of the start of the Cricket All Stars event in New York City this weekend.

The Cricket All Stars - featuring Shane Warne, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden and Andrew Symonds - gets underway at Citi Field on Sunday morning (AEDT) and McGrath says he can't wait for it all to start.

But the former Australia great, who managed 563 scalps during his impressive Test career,  said there were a few nerves starting to settle in as he gears up for a rare competitive hit out against his former peers.

"I am a little bit nervous to be honest as it has been so long since I played," McGrath told cricket.com.au on Saturday.

Quick Single: All Stars eye small boundaries

"I haven’t played in the US before, so it should be good fun.

"We have gone out and had a look at Citi Field and it is a pretty amazing place."

McGrath trained alongside his teammates on Friday, with many locals turning up for a glimpse of the cricketing stars on the small baseball field normally used by Major League Baseball team the New York Mets.

It is expected bat will dominate ball on the small confines of Citi Field, with McGrath hoping for a bit of respite for his fellow bowlers during the three-game series.

"We were at training yesterday and the guys middled some and didn’t (middle) others and they all seemed to go for six.

"It’s going to be tough for the bowlers, as per usual."

It hasn't all been sightseeing and good fun for McGrath, with the 45-year-old still chasing down the luggage he lost on his flight from Australia.

McGrath admitted he was frustrated at being in a foreign country without his belongings, although is still hopeful that his missing bag will be found.

"I have been trying to track down my bag as it has all gone missing with all my clothes," he said.

"They have organised some boots for me for the game, so fingers crossed my bag is found.

"We have got a few different airlines trying to track it down and hopefully it turns up, but I am a little bit concerned."

Cricket All-Stars game one, at New York's Citi Field, will be live streamed on cricket.com.au and the Cricket Australia LIVE app to Live Pass subscribers for iOS and Android devices from 5am AEDT on Sunday November 8. Game two (Thursday November 12, 1pm AEDT) and game three (Sunday November 15, 1.30pm AEDT) will follow suit.
