ScorecardMatch wrap: Stars beat Sixers
The hero
Welcome back Jess Cameron! Despite spending some time out of the game, the former Southern Stars batsman proved she still has all the skills to excel at this level. Batting at No.3, Cameron's unbeaten knock of 45 was the perfect blend of power and finesse, as she guided the Stars to victory. The experienced Cameron hit some lusty blows down the ground and never allowed the Sixers bowlers to settle into a rhythm. Her and Katie Mack (48 off 33 balls) shared a partnership of 77 to guide the Stars to victory.
The support cast
Mack's whirlwind knock, featuring seven boundaries, was vital the Stars bowlers again making early indents into the formidable Sixers line-up proved telling. Emma Kearney led the way dismissing Perry in simliar fashion to Saturday. Danni Hazell nabbed Alyssa Healy again before Hayley Jenson got in on the act by knocking over Proteas star Dane van Niekerk for her second duck this weekend. The trio finished with combined figures of 5-57 from their 12 overs.
The repeat
In 24 hours Emma Kearney managed to do something that most international bowlers will struggle to achieve in a year. The Stars opening bowler dismissed Ellyse Perry twice in two days, in practically identical fashion. On both occasions Perry was guilty of playing away from her body, as she edged outswingers to the keeper.
The consolation act
For the second day running Ashleigh Gardner had to produce the rescue act for the Sixers. Batting at No.5, Gardner was at the crease in the fifth over and composed herself, resisting any ambitious shots until she was settled at the crease. Once she was set, she used the pace of the fast bowlers to deflect the ball behind square on the off side, finding the ropes on couple of occasions. She unleashed on leg-spinner Alana King by hitting one over long-on for six and then hitting her over the covers for yet another boundary. She finished with 43 from 32 balls with five fours and a six.
The wash-up
Sixers will have some thinking to do having won just one game from their first four outings. They have 10 days to regroup before taking on cross-town rivals the Sydney Thunder. On the other hand, it is all smooth sailing for the Stars with three wins. The Stars will now travel to Brisbane to take on the Heat on December 28.
