Coulter-Nile ready to tear it up for WA

Paceman set to play two days of Shield before flying to South Africa with the Australia T20 squad

Fit-again allrounder Nathan Coulter-Nile has declared he's ready to bowl flat out for Western Australia this week as he attempts to prove his fitness for the Twenty20 World Cup.

Coulter-Nile has been cleared to play in the first two days of WA's Sheffield Shield clash with Queensland at the WACA Ground after recovering from a dislocated right shoulder.

The 28-year-old has barely played this summer because of two separate shoulder issues, leaving him severely short of match practice.

Despite this, Coulter-Nile has been selected in Australia's World T20 squad, as well as for next month's one-day tour of South Africa.

Coulter-Nile made a low-key return to club ranks last week, and he was the first to admit his efforts with the ball were rather poor.

But he's hoping his competitive instinct will kick in when he fronts up for the Warriors in the Shield match, starting on Thursday.

"I was bowling at a decent pace, but my rhythm and length and lines were pretty bad," Coulter-Nile said of his performance in grade ranks.

"I'm a competitive animal. So hopefully when I get out there in the heat of it, it all just rolls on for me.

"There'll be no restrictions or limit on what I need to bowl.

"I'll be bowling flat out. I'm still having a little issue throwing hard, but I can hide in the slips, hopefully."

Paceman Joel Paris will replace Coulter-Nile for the last two days of the match.

WA have also been bolstered by the return of Shaun Marsh, released early from the Test squad.

Coulter-Nile has been dogged in recent years by a range of shoulder and soft tissue injuries.

His luck has been so bad, he didn't even want to comment about it when asked whether he thought his injury woes were finally behind him.

"Every time I say something, something happens," Coulter-Nile said.

WA sit fifth on the Shield ladder, meaning they'll probably need to win their remaining three games outright if they are to bump Victoria or Queensland out of the top two.
