The undefeated Perth Scorchers are set to welcome back Australia A keeper Josh Inglis and T20 World Cup hero Mitch Marsh fresh from a blistering 60no off 27 balls against the England Lions
Scorchers' dream BBL|11 start set to get even better
The Perth Scorchers are off to a perfect start in KFC BBL|11 and will be boosted by the return of Australia A stars Mitch Marsh and Josh Inglis for their third match of the tournament against the Hobart Hurricanes on Tuesday night.
Speaking after his match winning knock of 114 not out from 73 deliveries against the Adelaide Strikers, Colin Munro said it would be fantastic to add the two quality players to an already strong Scorchers line up.
"It's nice, we get Mitch Marsh and Josh Inglis back so we’re looking forward to seeing them in the next couple of days," he told Fox Cricket.
"It helps that a lot of the players are based in Perth, the boys are a real tight unit and they've played a lot of cricket together.
"Coming in as an overseas player, myself and Laurie (Evans), it's easy to fit into this environment."
Marsh, the hero of Australia's T20 World Cup final triumph last month, has continued his strong form, clubbing 60 not out from just 27 balls in Australia A's second innings against the England Lions on Saturday in and knock that included seven sixes at a strike rate of 222.22.
Inglis made only six in the first innings and wasn't required in the second, however, he has established himself as one of the KFC BBL's top wicketkeeper-batters and was a member of that same T20 World Cup squad Marsh starred in.
Inglis is coming off two 400-plus run seasons for the Scorchers in BBL|09 and BBL|10 and was a crucial cog in the middle-order as Perth finished runners-up to the Sydney Sixers in last season's tournament.
England fast bowler Tymal Mills will also be available for selection for the Scorchers after arriving from the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament where he was in the same team as Melbourne Stars recruit Andre Russell, who hit 90 not out off 32 balls in the final to guide their Deccan Gladiators to victory.
Mills, who is capable of hitting speeds above 150kph, also featured in four of England's T20 World Cup matches, taking seven wickets for the tournament until a thigh strain brought his campaign to a premature end before the semi-final.
Despite both of their matches so far being 'home' games, only the Scorchers' opening victory over the Brisbane Heat was played at Optus Stadium with their win over the Strikers taking place at Sydney Showground Stadium.
It begins a tough stretch for the Perth based side as they look set to be on the road for most of their remaining games.
They have one more match locked in at Optus Stadium against the Hurricanes on Monday, December 20, but after that their home fixtures are yet to be finalised as Western Australia's COVID border restrictions play havoc with their ability to host games.
Scorchers' players are bracing for an extended period on the road, but Munro said it was something the team was looking to embrace and make the best out of.
"It's just part and parcel of the BBL at the moment with us and the government in Perth," he said.
"We’ve just got to be adaptable and wherever we end up playing games, we've just got to do it the best we can."
