Wilson century helps Breakers continue unbeaten start

New South Wales completed a successful road trip with back-to-back wins over Victoria

New skipper Molineux reflects on getting the captaincy call

Tahlia Wilson's sixth WNCL century has helped NSW Breakers post their second win from as many matches this season, seeing off Victoria by 45 runs in Melbourne.

Opener Wilson, the reigning WNCL player of the season, struck 109 from 110 deliveries to set up NSW's total of 9-266 at Junction Oval.

Victoria No.8 Sasha Moloney (56no from 60) was the only batter to pass fifty in reply as the hosts were bowled out for 221 in 46.3 overs.

Wilson shared a 59-run stand with new opening partner Katie Mack (30) before Victoria spinner Sophie Day struck twice to dismiss Mack and first drop Anika Learoyd (10).

Claire Moore (41) joined Wilson to put on 100 for the third wicket, with Maitlan Brown (23) the other significant contributor.

Boasting a spin-heavy attack without the services of quicks Tess Flintoff or Milly Illingworth, Day led the way for Victoria taking 3-48 while Ella Hayward picked up two.

Classy Wilson notches sixth WNCL ton

A triple strike from NSW skipper Lauren Cheatle (3-33) had Victoria under pressure in reply as she removed Mia Perrin (2), Ella Hayward (9) and Hasrat Gill (5) inside the first 11 overs.

When Sarah Coyte (3-31) chipped in to dismissed the experienced Nicole Faltum (34) and Meg Lanning (31), Victoria were in serious trouble at 5-87.

Tailenders Sasha Moloney (56no) and Georgia Prestwidge (35) dug deep in a 70-run eighth-wicket stand but the target was beyond their reach.

It completed a successful road trip for the reigning WNCL champions with two wins over Victoria in the space of three days.

NSW will host Western Australia in the second and final round before the WBBL break in early October, while Victoria will host Tasmania.
