The Big Bash stars worth $22 million

A closer look at the 27 players from BBL|07 who were picked up in the IPL auction

Almost half of the 56 foreign players sold at the weekend's Indian Premier League auction have been part of the KFC BBL this summer, underlining the Australian tournament's status as one of the best domestic leagues in the world.

A total of 169 players were sold at the two-day event in Bengaluru, the majority of them from India for a tournament in which each franchise can field just four foreign players in a match.

Of the 56 foreign players purchased, 27 were on BBL playing rosters this season and Caribbean duo Sunil Narine (personal reasons) and Andre Russell (suspension), who were retained by Kolkata Knight Riders before the auction, likely would have played in BBL|07 if they'd been available.

In addition to Aussie duo Steve Smith and David Warner, who don't play in the BBL and were retained by their respective franchises before the auction, 17 Aussies were purchased plus 10 more internationals who have featured in BBL|07.

And with eleven BBL stars being picked up for more than one million Australian dollars each, the 27 BBL players combined were valued at more than $AUD22 million.

Here's how your BBL club's stars fared in the IPL auction and where the competition's biggest names will play in 2018.
