The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars have got their ICC Twenty20 World Cup campaign off to the best possible start, with a 19-run win over Sri Lanka in their opening warm-up match in Bangladesh.

Captain Meg Lanning (43) and Jess Cameron (30) were the top scorers for Australia, putting on a 70-run partnership to lift the Stars to 5-144 off their twenty overs.

The innings was a welcome return to form for Cameron, who struggled throughout the home Ashes series, the powerful right-hander striking a four and a six for the World T20 title-holders.

Jess Jonassen was the pick of the Australian bowlers, picking up a remarkable 2-5 off her three overs.

Erin Osborne and Rene Farrell also chipped in, picking up a wicket each to restrict Sri Lanka to 5-125 and ensure a comfortable 19-run victory.

White Ferns dominate against India

New Zealand have beaten India by 17 runs in a warm-up game ahead of the women's World Twenty20 tournament starting in Bangladesh this weekend.

The White Ferns scored 138-8 in hot conditions at Savar before restricting India to 121-8.

It continued on from New Zealand's strong form at home over the last month, having swept the West Indies 4-0 in their Twenty20 series following on from a 3-0 one-day international series win.

Katie Perkins top-scored with 40 off 36 balls, putting on 66 for the fourth wicket with Sara McGlashan (34 off 38).

Pace bowler Morna Nielsen rocked the Indians with three early scalps to claim figures of 3-9 off four overs while seamer Hayley Jensen took 2-14 off four.

England has recorded a narrow victory over the Pakistan in Savar, chasing down their target of 107 with two wickets and one ball remaining.

Lydia Greenway was the chife runs-scorer in the innings striking 34 off 37 balls to lead a side that only managed three players in double figures.

Pakistan’s Sumaiya Siddiqi and Asmavia Iqbal were the best for Pakistan with the ball, picking up three wickets each and limiting the English batters to less than 3.5 an over.

Earlier, Danielle Hazell began her WT20 campaign on the right track, sharing opening bowling duties with Kate Cross and picking up 2-5 off her two overs.

Nida Dar and Sana Mir were the lone hands in Pakistan’s innings, reaching 36 runs each, Mir doing so at better than a run a ball.

West Indies power to big win

South Africa has proven no match for the might of the West Indies, going down by 52 runs in Savar.

Stafanie Taylor tallied an unbeaten 45 off 51 with Natasha Mclean (26) and Chinelle Henry (25) each contributing to lift their side to 4-123 off 20 overs.

South Africa was never really in the chase, losing four wickets before reaching 30 and their next six for just 38.

 Yolandi van der Westhuizen top-scored with 24, while an even bowling performance kept the South African run-rate below four for the entire innings.
