World's top-ranked Test batter dismissed for just three at Trent Bridge; Essex's match against Somerset in Taunton continued at a rapid pace

ScorecardGlamorgan grab handy lead after Marnus misjudgement
Marnus Labuschagne was dismissed for just three in his first innings of the new UK county season, but Glamorgan have taken a handy first-innings lead over James Pattinson's Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
The anticipated battle between Labuschagne and Pattinson, former Test teammates, never materialised on Friday after the world's No.1 Test batter left a ball from seamer Brett Hutton that jagged into his pads and struck him in front to see him depart just three balls into his innings.

Pattinson, who had got the first wicket of the morning, had a frustrating day in his first game of the season for Notts, finishing with 1-105 from 26 overs.
A ninth-wicket partnership of 106 between James Weighell and former NSW and Tasmania bowler Timm van der Gugten steered Glamorgan to 9-354 at the close, a lead of 52.

Queenslander Michael Neser had already added a handy 20 with the bat for Glamorgan.
In Taunton, England seamer Craig Overton claimed career-best figures of 7-57 for Somerset as their match against Essex continued to be played in fast forward.
After Australian Peter Siddle (2-42) removed Alastair Cook with the first ball of the morning, Overton ran through Essex's middle order as they were bowled out for 180 in reply to Somerset's first innings of just 109.
But Somerset's batting struggles continued in the second innings as they were bowled out for 154, with Australian Matt Renshaw one of the few to offer any resistance, posting 45 from 106 balls.
Renshaw's state teammate, Mark Steketee, picked up 2-53 for Essex to go with his figures of 3-47 in the first innings.
