Congratulations Simon Fry – SA ‘Official of the Year’

ICC International Panel member Simon Fry has been awarded the Sport SA ‘Official of the Year’ award in Adelaide.

The honour was judged on performances over the past 12 months and announced at a Gala Event attended by over 500 guests including the Governor of South Australia and Premier Jay Weatherill.

The accolade follows Fry’s long-standing and integral involvement in the Australian cricket umpiring community. In the past 12 months Fry represented both South Australia and Australia as a National Panel Umpire and ICC Panel Umpire. Last season Fry was appointed to umpire in the final of all three formats of Australian Domestic Cricket, including the Bupa Sheffield Shield, RYOBI One-Day Cup and KFC T20 Big Bash League.

At an international level, Fry officiated on field in the Commonwealth Bank One Day series, KFC T20 internationals and also as 4th umpire in the Vodafone Test Series against South Africa and Sri Lanka. Fry had the opportunity to travel to India as part of an umpire exchange and officiated in two Ranji Trohpy matches. During the Australian Cricket ‘off season’, Fry travelled to Canada to officiate in ICC sanctioned matches.
