BBC names best XI from the 2014 county summer
Two Aussies in Team of the Season
Two Australians have been named in the BBC's team of the English county season - and Chris Rogers is not one of them.
Veteran fast-bowlers Michael Hogan and Steve Magoffin have been rewarded for their brilliant form for Glamorgan and Sussex respectively with selection in an XI compiled by the BBC's local radio commentators.
The duo were once teammates at Western Australia before they left the Australian scene behind having signed extended county deals.
It's a move that has worked out brilliantly for both players, with the two quicks standout performers for their sides this year.
Quick Single: County season down to the wire
Hogan took 98 wickets for Glamorgan across all three formats having missed three Championship games at the start of the summer.
The right-armer was a late starter in first-class cricket before he played four seasons for Western Australia and two for Hobart Hurricanes in the KFC T20 Big Bash League.
His breakout season for the Warriors came in 2010-11, when he took 47 wickets to be awarded the Lawrie Sawle Medal as WA's Player of the Year.
He joined Glamorgan in 2013 and took 103 wickets in his first season to be named the county's Player of the Year.
Magoffin barely featured in limited overs cricket for Sussex this year, but took 72 wickets in the first-class game, the second-most of any player.
The lanky quick made his debut for Western Australia in 2004 and picked up 199 first-class wickets at 26.85 before returning to his native Queensland in 2011.
He took 23 wickets at 16.60 during his only season with the Bulls, with his final act in Australian domestic cricket being hitting the winning runs in the 2011-12 Sheffield Shield final.
Having previously played for Worcestershire and Surrey, Magoffin relocated to the UK in 2012 after signing a two-year deal with Sussex.
Upon naming the two Aussies in the Team of the Season, the BBC expressed surprise that both players have not represented Australia.
The BBC also acknowledged that Rogers was unlucky not to make their XI, with the opener having scored 1333 first-class runs at an average of 55.54 for Middlesex, including two double-centuries.
